We are proud that you have chosen to become a member of our growing NKU family! In order to assist you with your transition to NKU (aka Norsification), all new students are required to attend Northern Exposure: Orientation*.ÌýThis is a 1-day program, educating you on the many services that ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ has to offer. In addition to learning more about ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ, this orientation program will answer questions you may have about college and help you begin to build a strong success network at ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ. ³Õ±ð³Ù±ð°ù²¹²Ô²õÌýhave the option to attend a veteran-specific track that is embedded in each of the two programs listed below. The veteran track includes such information asÌý, information about your veteran benefits, how they apply to your account, and more.

By definition, aÌýpost-traditional studentÌýis one or more of the following:

  • 21 years of age or older
  • Married, divorced or widowed
  • Has parental responsibilities
  • Served at least six months in the military
  • Listed as a veteran

*Advising and course registration is NOT included as part of the orientation programÌýfor post-traditional or veteran students.ÌýYou are eligible to be advised and registerÌýas soon you have beenÌýaccepted to the university, and confirm your enrollment.ÌýOnce you have paid the $75 Enrollment Confirmation Fee, you may contact your advisor and make an appointment. We encourage you to do so as soon as possible!

Online Student Orientation

All students accepted into an online program will automatically be enrolled in the online student orientation. You will need your NKU user ID (from your letter of acceptance) and to access the orientation. The orientation is delivered online via . After logging into Canvas, you can in which you are enrolled, including the online student orientation. For questions about the online student orientation, please email orientation@nku.edu.

 

STEP 1: REGISTER FOR NORTHERN EXPOSURE

 

Within 2 business days of paying your $75 Enrollment Confirmation Fee, you will receive an email (to the email address you listed on your application to the university) with a personal invitation to register for Northern Exposure: Orientation. That email will contain a personal reservation code and a link. ORIENTATION FOR THE 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR

During the summer, we will hold an orientation program for Transfer, Post-Traditional, and Veteran students on August 1st for those who starting in Fall 2023. We will also hold an orientation program on December 5th for those who are starting in Spring 2024. 

 

STEP 2: PAY YOUR NORTHERN EXPOSURE FEE

Each student participating in Northern Exposure: Orientation must pay a $100 fee. You can pay your Northern Exposure Fee by logging into your MyNKU account, selecting "Student Billing," and then selecting "Northern Exposure & Confirmation Fees."
